Fishers Firemen SHAME on you.

Citizens of Fishers, you are being used by the Firemen in the recent election, they didn’t care one bit about the quality of the candidates, about the position of the candidate relative to the long term good for the community. They cared only about one thing, which candidates would support a pay raise for them, which candidates would provide money.

One of the questions that was asked in the endorsement process was exactly that, if they would support a pay raise next year. Endorsements were based on these simple factors.

To make matter worst they imported help to man the polling places on primary day. Why did we have firemen from Carmel and Cicero handing out their endorsement papers to citizens of Fishers. I overheard one fireman when he came to do his turn at the poll say to the one who was leaving “How is our pay raise coming.?”

The end result is that we no longer should pay any attention to the fire union and who they endorse. They have proven they are just another union looking out for their members only and working to elect candidate who have promised payback for the endorsement. Not for the community they serve.

Fisher Fire Union and firemen shame on you.

Another Republican that shouldn't hold any office.

REPUBLICAN or should I say Repugnant State Senator Stacy Campfield of Knoxville, Tennessee posted on May 5th his “Thought of the Day”:

“Democrats bragging about the number of mandatory sign ups for Obamacare is like Germans bragging about the number of manditory [sic] sign ups for ‘train rides’ for Jews in the 40s."

Mr. Campfield you owe my grandparents an apology, you see they were "transported east" in 1942 to Riga, Latvia and then along with about 3,740 German, Austrian, and Czech Jews were taken to mass graves in the woods north of Riga and machine gunned to death. Mr. Campfield they didn't board that train willingly they were taken to it, put in a cattle car and shipped in the dead of winter to Riga, when they arrived they were marched to Jungfernhof concentration camp and about a month later marched into the woods.
Actually I think you owe 6 million people an apology. Unfortunately they can't hear you.

BTW- even the Republican leadership in Tennessee could take his latest outrageous and insensitive statements. The GOP state chairman’s statement deserves to be read in its entirely:

"While Stacey Campfield routinely makes remarks that are over the top, today's comments are ignorant and repugnant. No political or policy disagreement should ever be compared to the suffering endured by an entire generation of people. Those comments have no place in our public discourse. He should offer an apology to members of the Jewish faith immediately."

This man needs to be driven out of office and hopefully someone in the State of Tennessee will take him on in the next election.

Kelly for Mayor, Allman for Trustee a few good reasons and many others. Vote May 6th.

Kelly for Mayor, Allman for Trustee a few good reasons and many others. Vote May 6th.

It is a pretty sad day for the people of Fishers and Hamilton County when you view many of the candidates for this year’s election. Here is my favorite a race for Judge with one candidate that has a flyer with a fake family, fake well maybe but when the Judge has one woman and three children next to him it becomes a fake family. Now he claims he wanted to show the type of people he would serve, well then he should have had 20 children in his photo not three and those three were borrowed from other judges families. So I would say his opposition Judge Hughes would be a better choice.

Mayor – The race has come down to two candidates Kelly and Fadness, if you are planning to vote for any of the others you are throwing away your vote. What brothers me the most about this race is that Mr. Fadness is bought and paid for by all the big time developers, and law firms. If elected Mayor who will he favor, citizens or developers, based on what has happened in from of Town Hall the answer is pretty clear. I can’t think of a city that would not want beautiful green space in front of their town hall, can you? The to give millions in taxpayer money to these developers is a sin pure and simple any other statement is false. If this had been such a great idea whose time had come why did they pay off the developers with tax money? Why is it that every time you turn around on business development do they give them tax breaks? If Fadness get elected we would continued to see this crazy miss matched growth, tax breaks for developers etc, the real impact will be on our school system.  Another school referendum is coming, so instead of business paying taxes it’s you and I.

Mr. Kelly would be the best Mayor out of this bunch. First he is not bought and paid for by anyone. The contributions to his race came from people. That to me is an important factor. Next I truly believe he cares a lot more about the community than does Mr. Fadness. Also lets look at his age and experience. At 69 if he wins and then runs again next year and wins the election after that he will be 74 and should retire. That gives us the chance by then to have other prove them selves in city government and have someone else run for Mayor. If Fadness gets in I fear he might be around for 20 years. Not good for a city government.  So I urge you to vote for Kelly.

The next big race is for Fall Creek Trustee. I do not understand why Mr. Jeff Hern is even running. During the City yes or no vote, Mr. Hern wanted to merge the Township with the Town and get rid of it. His reward was he would be appointed to the new City Council and maybe he thought he could be appointed Mayor in the funny city they proposed. So here we have someone who wants to shut down the Township and now claims it is the greatest thing since sliced bread and vote for me. When he took office he sold off two new donated freezers to his employees for $100 because they didn’t need them etc, now the food bank is so important etc. The use of the community building by the public has drastically been reduced. Did I say “community building” or is this something he has forgotten. But one of the worst things he has done is trying to use tax dollars to buy voting endorsements. He wanted to give the Town of Fishers $300,000 for fixing up the fire station at Brooks School road. The Town already had the money set aside, or a stunt to get the endorsement of the Fireman’s Union. It worked. Now he is telling voters he is going to build another fire station out near Cyntheanne Road, well according the Fishers Fire Chief that will be talked about in 2018 and might be in the 2019 budget. But to listen to Mr. Hern it is just around the corner. Tisk, Tisk.

On the other hand we have Mr. Doug Allman who for three years in a row on the Township Board pushed to get a tanker truck for the Fire Department to help in areas that do not have fire hydrants and have it stationed in this area, not very glamorous but very much needed. He also proposed and voted for tax cuts three years in a row, while Hern claims he got the tax cuts, ask him how he voted, as Trustee you don’t vote. Another Hern claim out the window. Mr. Allman was also the Chairman of City Yes and let the fight to allow people to have the right to vote for a Mayor. That alone should be enough to pick him over Mr. Hern for Trustee. I would have to say I “Trust” Mr. Allman a lot more to be Trustee.

One of the bad things about local elections in this area is no media. It is very hard to find out what is really going on.  So some of the candidates with lots of money have big signs. So you need to check where the money came from for the big signs, developers of course. So I would not vote for anyone who is currently sitting on the town council of purchased big signs. The current council members are all hypocrites.  They endorsed the reorganized city and wanted to take away your right to vote now they want to be part of the city. Shame on them. Then we have Block and Coble both paid for by developers.  Another bad sign is David George and his money from the Royal Tiger PAC that appeared to have gotten money form developers in exchange for advance information on what is going on in the town.  I would hope the people bring Bill Brown to the new council instead of Mr. George. Here are some of my picks: (ones not listed – no race)
Mayor – Kelly
Clerk – Winkler
NW Council Seat – Stoller
NC Council Seat – Brown
SW Council Seat – Brown
NE Council Seat – DeReamer
At Large – Heinzmann, Zimmerman, Bracken
Fall Creek – Trustee – Allman
Board – Baehl , Martin, Zagar
Delware – Board – Fain, Pierce, Schenkel

Stuart Easley and the Kroger Plaza Sign - interesting.

Do you know where the Kroger Plaza is located? I would expect if I asked 100 people who live in Fishers, 1 might know the answer. OK it’s at 116th Street and Olio and located in the Kroger Plaza is a Kroger store, not just any Kroger but one that they want to expand into a mega store (Kroger Marketplace). So they went before the Town Council and were sort of turned down. They tabled the request. In fact one council member Stuart Easley said: “For me, it was dead upon proposal.”

This brings up a very interesting question? Mr. Easley who is running for re-election now has a rather large political sign on Olio Road in the Kroger Plaza. Did he work a deal for permission to elect that sign on Kroger Plaza? This becomes an interesting ethical question about the location and his actions. Mr. Easley are you willing to sign a pledge that no matter what this will always remain a dead deal for you, that you would never vote to approve this build out?

By the way – the Town Planning Department every election sends out a letter to all candidates about placement of signs. The standard letter came out as usual. Then all of sudden a second letter reminding candidate about placement of signs on private property and that you need permission of the property owner. I wonder did Mr. Easley whose signs are popping up on private property have anything to do with the second letter. Can’t have someone else’s sign near his Mega Signs.  Let’s not forget Mr. Easley was one of the Town Council Members who said vote yes for the Fake City and appointed Mayor. Now he wants to be a real City Council Member.

HJR-3 doomed before any vote

“Many Michigan residents have religious convictions whose principles govern the conduct of their daily lives and inform their own viewpoints about marriage,” this was written by U.S. District Judge Bernard Friedman, on March 21, 2014, in his decision as he struck down Michigan’s Gay-Marriage ban. Change one word in this statement – Michigan to Indiana and this is exactly what is going to happen here after the tax payers of this state waste millions of dollars to defend the state’s gay-marriage ban and its maybe new constitutional amendment.

If the amendment were put to a vote I am fairly certain it would pass in this conservative state. But it would not survive any challenge in the courts. It fly’s directly into the equal protection clause under the law. It comes down too that the views of one group of people cannot be applied to all. It is a religious view and we are a nation of religious freedom, no religion can apply its conviction on everyone.

Indiana lawmakers knew full well the constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage will be struck down. They passed it for one reason too look good for the voters at home. Shame on them for not doing the right thing. Shame on them for not explaining to their voters what is the law of the land and how it protects them to have religious views and how those views cannot become law.

Federal judges have struck down marriage bans in Utah, Ohio, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Virginia, Texas, Illinois, Tennessee and now Michigan. Indiana will soon be added to this list.

Noblesville vs Fishers on Development

-->

Noblesville just won the March madness of development with bagging Cabelas versus Fishers building an apartment building and office building in the “downtown.”  Shows the lack of forward thinking on the part of the town’s manager and the council. They are so busy trying to cause more traffic jams on 113th street they can’t see what they should be going after. The wide-open space between Wal-Mart and Sallie Mae would have been perfect for this store, especially when considering the proposal for an exit off the interstate at 104th street. That would have been right at the store. But I am certain Cabelas still has a bad taste from the last time they approach Fishers six years ago. Maybe Mr. Easley would like to fill in the citizens of the town on how he and the then Council stopped that development. But then again he is running for re-election and maybe he would rather not talk about it.

Maybe the current Town Manager and candidate would like to fill us in on how the new City of Fishers missed out on this one. Hint to the town development people who seems to be asleep or work deals only with their buddies. Have you ever heard of a store called Ikea, maybe they would like the wide-open space between Walmart and Sallie Mae since it is still available. Ikea’s phone number is +31 (0)15 215 3815. Remember you will need someone who speaks Swedish.

I also have to wonder about light bulbs. We heard a lot about a new company coming to town to make high tech light bulbs and fill the old Diamond nut factory. Well a friend went to apply for a job and was told they were not hiring, were not going to make light bulbs and instead were a sign company. Now not sure my friend walk into the correct door, but is certain he did, so is VoxLumen another false start up within Fishers. Maybe we need someone to shed some light on this subject.

New Fishers Town Council, same as old.

I am so glad to see the new Fishers Town Council is the exact same as the old Fishers Town Council with a few new members. The behind the doors deals continued, the non-bid contracts continue.

I worked for the Federal Government for 30 years, I learned a long time ago sometimes you have to do things to be on the up and up even if it takes a little longer. Even when I knew what the outcome was going to be I would not side step the procedure to get to the answer faster. It just was not right.

Lets look at the crazy downtown development. Lets look at the misleading statements and misguided approach by the Town Council and the Town Manager.

The overall downtown development was shown to the public. When at 8 am on a weekday and once. Why wasn’t it taken to the people? Instead of at Town Hall only, why wasn’t it truly explained. What expect the public to understand?

How come the Town has given away land for these developments and tax dollars to the developers. Then make statements that the land is so valuable. If the land was so valuable why was it given away.

Fishers Council makes a big deal about open space and parks, so they put these monster apartment buildings in front of Town Hall on the only green space in the downtown. Oh excuse me “luxury apartments with retail” while at the same time on the other side of  116th street we have a beautiful used car lot. Of course the owner of the beautiful used car lot comes out in support of the apartments and he lives in the unincorporated area. Not even a citizen of the town. He just wants the value of the land of his car lot to increase. Can’t blame him, but the Town Council could change the zoning and have forced the sale for apartments.

Have you been in front of Town Hall between 5 and 6 pm in the extended parking lot called a street. Between these apartments and the other big complex being built at Cumberland and 116th traffic will be wonderful. Just think of all the time you will have in your car going home.

BTW- this is the same Town Council members and City Manager who did not want all of you from voting for a real city. So they have to get all this done before a Mayor and a real city come into being. Maybe that is why we having all the secret closed door deals. Maybe we need to elect new people who believe in an open door and real public input.

So I am glad to see nothing has changed, the government of Fishers still could care less about the people, only their developer friends.
